Palermo – Lesson with Chef Vincenzo

Chef Vincenzo began his restaurant career at the tender age of 12. After working for many years in the US, his passion for his homeland and its food brought him back to Palermo where he opened his own restaurant, which is today one of the best-known and most popular restaurants in the city.

Your day will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a visit to one of Palermo’s historic and bustling markets, where you will shop for fresh, seasonal ingredients. Return to the restaurant for your hands-on cooking class. If you are lucky, Vincenzo’s mother and mentor may be on hand to assist him with the class. The lesson will focus on typical Sicilian dishes and lunch, served with delicious Sicilian wine, will follow. The class will end around 2:00 p.m.

We returned from our trip to Sicily this past weekend, and I wanted to let you know that the cooking class with Vincenzo in Palermo was absolutely fantastic! My friend and I had so much fun with him at the market, and I have to say that the meal we prepared was one of our best of the trip (and we had terrific food). Our husbands joined us for lunch, and Vincenzo ate with us - he is fun and charming, and the whole experience was the best of our 10 day trip. Chef Vincenzo was fabulous. We had a very interesting morning in the markets where he explained all the local food and we tasted some great street food. We also visited the beautiful baroque church which we would never have found by ourselves! We then went back to his restaurant and started cooking. There were 7 of us but everyone had a turn and was very involved. I would have loved to be given the recipes though. There wasn't time to write them down. The meal we made was delicious and we all had a wonderful lunch. It was a fabulous morning in Palermo! Judy M., Australia

Just wanted to let you know that the class with Chef Vincenzo was amazing, truly a first rate experience.Ã‚Â The personal tour of the markets was informative and fun.Ã‚Â We tried numerous street foods (donÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t eat breakfast before) and learned a great deal about the local history, culture, and food.Ã‚Â We also visited a beautiful (hidden) Baroque church. Ã‚Â The hands-on class was wonderful and we learned numerous tips in addition to preparing 5+ local dishes with wine.Ã‚Â Lunch was lovely as Chef Vincenzo dined with us and was generous with recommendations for Palermo and beyond.
