You will start your tour by spending time enjoying the famous metropolis of San Jose, where you will become acquainted with the modern foodie movement overtaking the city. Afterward, you will head to Golfito for a relaxing stay at one of the best in luxury eco lodges in the country. Throughout your experience, you will be immersed in cultural history whilst simultaneously enjoying only the best options in luxury travel.

  • Arrive in Costa Rica in the afternoon and transfer to your hotel.
  • Spend your afternoon at leisure, relaxing after your flight or enjoying some of the hotels many amenities. If you are eager to begin sightseeing, your centrally located accommodations will allow you to explore the city with ease.
  • Throughout your luxury food tour, you will explore Costa Rica’s myriad of international cuisine and fusion food, beginning with a welcome dinner at Miyako Japanese Restaurant. This fashionable upscale restaurant is actually located in your hotel, and it is notable for its variety of classic Japanese dishes such as sushi and sashimi. (Cost of dinner not included, paid locally.)
  • Return to hotel and overnight.

Products made at the only winery in Costa Rica.Day 2

  • Early breakfast at the hotel.
  • Depart for your tour of the Copey Winery at 6:30am, the only winery in Central America. The drive is approximately 2.5 hours, o you will have plenty of time to observe the fabulous biodiversity in Costa Rica.
  • Enjoy a shared tour of the Copey Winery at 9am. During your visit you will be able to learn more about the winery’s history, take a walk around a vineyard and see the golden berry plantation. you will receive an explanation of the process for making golden berry liqueur, and their red and white wines. To conclude the visit, you will taste 4 wines from the company’s extreme vineyards in California, Israel, and Costa Rica. You will also learn about two ways to drink their Golden Rush liqueur (the only golden berry liqueur on Earth) with a pairing.
  • Head to a nearby restaurant called Al Mercat for lunch, where you will enjoy traditional Costa Rican dishes with a modern twist. Here, local food is elevated and modified for a fine dining experience.
  • Transfer back to hotel and enjoy your afternoon at leisure. Take this opportunity to explore the city on your own or enjoy the hotel pool.
  • At 7pm, transfer for dinner to La Divina Comida, a Peruvian fusion restaurant drawing from the country’s multicultural  background to create a one-of-a-kind menu. This high-end establishment is a favorite for its specialty Peruvian cuisine with a local twist. The restaurant prides itself on its partnership with local producers, which ensures fresh ingredients and helps to create economic growth within the community.  
  • Return to your hotel around 9pm.
  • Overnight

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Free time to explore the city. San Jose is one of the safest cities in Central America, with world class parks, museums, and historical centers. We suggest a visit to the Museo del Arte or a walk to La Sabana Metropolitan Park. You may also choose to use this opportunity to relax poolside instead.
  • Transfer to your cooking class at 11-47 Restaurant at 2:30pm. The menu is subject to change but may include Caribbean ceviche with coconut leche de tigra, Sticky rice croquette with pumpkin and tomato, and Coconut fudge ice cream, or honey coated fritter. Conclude with a delicious specialty cocktail such as an Ice Cream Old Fashioned.
  • Enjoy dinner based on your efforts.
  • Return to your hotel at 8pm.
  • Overnight.

Visit the beach during your stay in Costa Rica.Day 4

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • 8:30am transfer to Sansa airport for flight to Golfito.
  • Arrive at the Golfito airport at 11:30am and meet your driver, then transfer to your accommodations. Your stay at this high-end eco lodge will include all of your meals, which are cooked from fresh ingredients gathered on the property or sourced locally. 
  • Take lunch at your leisure in the hotel restaurant.
  • This afternoon, you have free time to enjoy the many amenities offered at the hotel or simply take a break and settle in. You can book spa services or take a hike on one of the hotel’s exclusive trails.
  • Enjoy a delicious farm to table meal at the hotel restaurant in the evening.
  • Overnight.

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • You may choose between a full-day hiking tour to Corcovado National Park or a full day of snorkeling on Caño Island.
  • The Corcovado National Park tour will allow you to explore Corcovado’s vast acreage of jungle with the help of a guide. You will learn all about the incredible natural ecosystem whilst observing the wildlife of Costa Rica in real time. Your tour will include scheduled sightseeing stops and a picnic lunch. 
  • The Caño Island is one of the top places in all of Costa Rica for snorkeling and diving. Those who choose this excursion will observe fascinating sea life and marvel at brain coral reefs. This tour will include a transfer by boat to and from the island, as well as an English-speaking instructor-guide and lunch. 
  • You may also opt to spend the day relaxing on the beach or even birdwatching. There will be equipment available to you at the lodge, such as kayaks and snorkeling gear, which you can check out for free to use in Cativo Bay. 
  • Dinner at your accommodations. Enjoy another delightful meal featuring variations on traditional Costa Rican cuisine.
  • Overnight.

Corcovado BeachDay 6

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • After breakfast, you will walk 20 minutes to the hotel’s farm. Here, you will gather fresh ingredients for your next cooking lesson and enjoy a tour of the premises.
  • You will return to the lodge with ingredients in hand, ready for your cooking class on traditional Costa Rican cuisine. Under the expert tutelage of the restaurant staff, you will learn to cook typical local fare with a modern flare.
  • Lunch to follow.
  • Enjoy the rest of your day at leisure. Head back to the beach or your room, or grab a fruity cocktail at the bar as you while away the afternoon. You can also book an additional excursion with your hotel if you just can’t get enough sightseeing.
  • Dinner included at the hotel.
  • Overnight.

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • At 9:40am, you will transfer to the airport for your flight to San Jose.
  • Arrive at 12:40pm and transfer to your hotel in San Jose.
  • Spend the afternoon at leisure and perhaps take a walk around the city to do some shopping and explore on your own.
  • Pickup at 6:30 pm for dinner at L’Olivo, which has been named the best Italian restaurant in Costa Rica. The fusion of Italian recipes with local flavors serves to stimulate the palate as familiar dishes are made new again.
  • Overnight.

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Free morning or optional city tour. Your arts and culture walking tour of San Jose will be led by an expert, English-speaking guide, who will meet you at your accommodations. You will visit historical neighborhoods and landmarks while learning about the local culture. 
  • At  2:30 pm, you will transfer to Rincon de los Milagros for your Mexican cooking class. This will be the finale to your comprehensive journey through the fusion style cuisine that is gaining so much popularity in Costa Rica. Experience Mexican food like you never have before during this class, in which you will use entirely fresh and local ingredients to put a modern spin on classic dishes.
  • Your menu may include: Exquites from Xochimilco, a delicacy of white corn cooked with epazote, delicious shrimp aguachile, chilaquiles in red or green sauce, or divided. Then, to  quench the thirst, you will make a rich Mexican cantina style paloma with 100% agave tequila, Fresca, and lime juice, and rimmed with Chamoy and Tajin. You will finish with  a churro con mezcal cajeta sauce.
  • Dinner based on your efforts.
  • Transfer back to your hotel at 8pm.
  • Overnight.

Classes & Instructors

Your first cooking class, at 11-47 in San Jose is a mixed culinary class, involving cooking and cocktails. A combination class of this nature will help you to understand preparation and coherence in both areas. Using local products and techniques characteristic of 11•47, you will prepare a menu of 3 entrees and 3 drinks. This class will last approximately 3 hours and will conclude with dinner based on your efforts.

Your second cooking class will take place at Playa Cativo Lodge, where you will enjoy a tour of their farm before gathering your own fresh ingredients. You will learn traditional Costa Rican culinary techniques and gain a basic knowledge of the local specialties. Alcoholic beverages will be available during your class.

Your third cooking class will feature traditional Mexican cuisine in a delicious fusion of Costa Rican ingredients with your favorite Mexican dishes. You will learn to cook 3 entrees and a dessert, and you will make a classic Mexican cocktail.
